In the last match of the basic round of the ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga between the Veilchen and SKN St. Pölten, the visitors prevailed 0-2 and were able to defend their lead in the table. A very pleasing fact: a new record for a women's home game was set with 1,515 fans in the Generali-Arena!

The game began with an early attack by St. Pölten: The visitors' first shot towards goal came as early as the 8th minute. However, Carina Wenninger stood firm and was able to clear the ball confidently. However, the action continued to be dominated by the hosts. Most violet attempts to take possession of the ball and go on the attack were unsuccessful.
The Lower Austrians then took the lead in the 21st minute. A sharp shot from Melanie Brunnthaler into the near corner was beyond the reach of goalkeeper Larissa Haidner. Shortly afterwards, the Wolves tried to extend their lead (28'). However, the hard shot narrowly missed the goal. In the 32nd minute, the Violets had their first chance to break through the SKN defence with a free-kick from Maria Olsen. However, the shot bounced off the wall.
The next dicey situation for Austria followed just five minutes later. St. Pölten came dangerously close to goal again, but the shot only hit the crossbar (37'). A corner kick opportunity for the Violets followed in the 40th minute, but the St. Pölten goalkeeper was able to successfully fend off the ball. Shortly before the break, Haidner made a strong save to keep out a dangerous SKN free-kick and prevent the Wolves from scoring again.
The visitors continued to be effective after the break, but the Violets also returned more dominant. In the 49th minute, Verena Volkmer tried to open the scoring with a free-kick from distance, but this shot was also blocked by the goalkeeper. It was finally in the 60th minute when a free-kick from SKN slipped through Haidner's hands and rolled into the goal - a bitter moment for Austria, who were now 0-2 down.
However, the Violets did not give up. Louise Schöffel had a chance to shoot in the 67th minute, but the ball landed directly in the hands of the SKN goalkeeper. In the 72nd minute, Anna Schorn took a shot, but her shot just missed the goal. The final phase of the game offered little hope for the Violets. In the 90th minute, it was Haidner again who was able to fend off an SKN corner kick, but the visitors' victory was already sealed.
The 2-0 win means that SKN St. Pölten remain top of the table. Despite a record crowd of 1,515 fans - a new attendance record for a violet women's home game - the violets remain without points this weekend.
