2022 starts with a 21:0 test match victory

FK Austria Wien won the first test match in the course of the spring preparation 2022 on Saturday against SC Mannswörth with 21:0 (9:0). The match was played on a training pitch at the Generali Arena.

A few days after the start of training, Austria coach Manfred Schmid had the match mode rehearsed for the first time. The 50-year-old was also able to call on the recovered Markus Suttner, who led the team as captain.

It started as planned: 90 seconds had passed when Suttner served Fischer - and he took the lead (2'). Six minutes later, Fischer again converted a beautiful combination (8`), this time via the right side.

Striker Djuricin made it 3:0, he finished a Schoissengeyr-assist with a lob (21'). The assistant was then responsible for the goal to make it 4-0 - Schoissengeyr scored himself.

And it went on: Grünwald proved his feeling when he put the score at 5:0 with a lob (26'). Only two minutes later, Djuricin showed his flair and commitment again - he pushed a low cross into the goal (28'), and scored again shortly afterwards (31'). Fischer made it 9:0 at the break with his third and fourth goals (30', 43').

At the break, Schmid changed seven times - but the continuation resembled the start of the game: Fitz saw Ohio start into the gap - and he finished sensitively with his left foot (50') for a double-digit score.

Fitz continued to play briskly - and subsequently scored twice (60', 63'). In between there was still room for a debut goal: Vucic converted an Ivkic cross (62').

In the final phase, the action continued. In the end Fischer, Grünwald and Fitz even kept the score at four goals - so with Hammond's final goal the final score was 21:0.

Coach Manfred Schmid: "That was a good unit for us. It was important for us to play under competitive conditions, the boys moved well and tried to implement our things and procedures."
