An impressive 7–0 win over Red Bull Salzburg

The Veilchen put in an impressive performance against Red Bull Salzburg and celebrated a resounding 7–0 win in front of their home crowd. Thanks to a strong and focused team performance, the Veilchen gave their opponents hardly any chances throughout the match and secured the next three points with great confidence. With Lotta Cordes, Patricia Pfanner (both scoring twice), Louise Schöffel, Modesta Uka and Valentina Pötzl, several players found the back of the net, ensuring a thoroughly successful start to the weekend.

The Veilchen got off to a fast-paced start in front of their home crowd against Red Bull Salzburg. Modesta Uka had the first chance as early as the second minute, but her shot went over the bar (2'). At the other end, Lotta Cordes cleared a Salzburg corner with a header. Moments later, the Veilchen were awarded a corner of their own and Cordes was in exactly the right place. She headed the ball into the net to make it 1–0. After a few sporadic attacks from the visitors, Austria increasingly took control and created further chances through Louise Schöffel, Verena Hanshaw and Uka. Elisa Pfattner and Patricia Pfanner also tried their luck from distance before the Violets finally opened the scoring.

Pezi strikes with a brace again

In the 22nd minute, Schöffel played the ball into the penalty area, where Pfanner was perfectly positioned to slot home and make it 2–0. Shortly afterwards, Uka powered her way through the opposition defence and set up Schöffel, who this time scored herself to make it 3–0. The Violets remained clinical: In the 38th minute, Uka once again set up a goal for Pfanner, who completed her brace. Just three minutes later, Uka was on hand herself and made it 5–0 following a cross from Schöffel. The teams went into the half-time break with this comfortable lead.

After the break, both teams made several substitutions, but the Veilchen continued to dominate proceedings. Salzburg had a good chance from a corner, but Pal was on hand to save. At the other end, Cordes made it half a dozen in the 56th minute: following an assist from Andrea Glibo, she scored to make it 6–0. The game then settled down somewhat, and dangerous moments were initially few and far between for both sides.

Pötzl scores her first

In the closing stages, however, the Violets still had a few chances. Following a free-kick from Glibo, Chiara Pucci was unable to find the net, whilst Sandra Jakobsen shot just over the bar after a pass from Tatjana Weiss. Valentina Pötzl finally put the icing on the cake in the 90th minute when she surged forward and slotted the ball home to seal the final score. A final Salzburg free-kick in stoppage time went wide of the goal – and shortly afterwards, the match was over. Austria thus celebrated an impressive 7–0 win over Red Bull Salzburg in front of their home crowd and secured another three points.
