Reaching the final of the SPORTLAND Niederösterreich Women's Cup for the first time, a strong second half of the season in the ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga and ultimately being crowned the league's top scorer mean that captain Verena Volkmer can look back on the past season with great satisfaction.

And she makes it clear: ‘I'm not done here yet! Our journey in 2024, with the Cup final as the highlight, makes me want more. I am convinced that we can achieve great things with our quality, the conditions we have here and our great fans. I want to be part of that and experience even more special moments with Austria Vienna.’

Volkmer moved to Vienna from Germany in the summer of 2022 and scored a strong 28 goals in 41 games for the Violets. The Violet captain is also very committed off the pitch and visits numerous schools in Vienna and the surrounding area as part of the Austria ist Klasse. initiative to bring children, and girls in particular, closer to football.

‘I feel extremely appreciated by the club, the coaching team and my team, which is not something I take for granted. I'm very grateful and happy about that. Because of this feeling and the connection to Austria Vienna that I've developed since I've been here, I quickly realised that I didn't want to do anything else. Why change anything when it's fine the way it is?’, says Volkmer.

Lisa Makas, Sporting Director: ‘We are delighted to have extended Verena's contract for another year. She's one of the strongest players in the league and it's not for nothing that she was voted the second-best player of the season. Verena has helped us enormously in sporting terms, not least as our top scorer, and her personality make her an incredible asset to our team. She really identifies 100 per cent with Austria Vienna and drives everyone at the club.’
