Austria signs Slovenian U21 team player

Austria Wien has snapped up the next promising talent. Martin Pečar, a Slovenian U21 team player who is currently under contract with Eintracht Frankfurt, joins us on loan.

Pečar comes highly recommended, with none other than Milenko Ačimovič giving his compatriot a very good report card. "He is certainly one of the best of his generation," said the fan favorite of many Austria Wien fans, who has been team manager of the Slovenian U21 national team for a year and a half.

The 19-year-old comes from the German Bundesliga club on loan until the summer, after which Austria has an option to buy.

Pečar, who is very versatile offensively, played in all the selection teams in Slovenia from the U15 level onwards, and at Frankfurt he made it through the U17 and U19 levels to the squad for the combat team, which is now coached by Austrian Oliver Glasner.

Martin Pečar: "I am very happy and satisfied that this transfer worked out. It all happened very quickly, but I'm happy that I can be here now. Vienna is a really great, big city and I think Austria Wien was just the best choice for me and my development now."

Sporting director Manuel Ortlechner: "He is a player with a promising perspective who should take the next step with us. We have collected a lot of info about him and are convinced that this decision per a Slovenian national team player makes absolute sense."

Coach Manfred Schmid: "We are happy that another team player has decided for us. He has a lot of potential, will also get the time with us to develop step by step and get used to the new environment."
