Austria Wien defeats Tirol with 2-0

After a goalless first half, Patrick Wimmer scored the violet lead immediately after the restart, Manprit Sarkaria scored the 2-0 in the 75th minute.

Peter Stöger made three changes in the starting eleven against WSG Tirol: Vesel Demaku started on the right in the back four instead of Georg Teigl, who had to pass with back problems. Maudo Jarjué replaced Michael Madl in the central defence. This time Maximilian Sax was preferred over Aleksandar Jukić.

Wattens celebrated an away win in Altach the week before, so coach Thomas Silberberger only changed his team on one position. Renny Piers Smith played instead of Kelvin Yeboah.

No goals before the break

Both teams started the game cautiously, the first shots from Zlatko Dedic and today's captain Markus Suttner did not pose any major problems for goalkeepers Patrick Pentz and Ferdinand Oswald (8’, 18’). A shot by Smith missed the goal, Manprit Sarkaria’s shot was too high (22’, 29’). Nikolai Frederiksen put Patrick Pentz to the test in the 30^th minute, Austria Wien’s goalkeeper parried safely. Christoph Monschein got a back pass from David Gugganig, but couldn't get past Oswald (36’). After a free-kick from Markus Suttner, Maudo Jarjué had a chance, but the ball missed the goal (43’). A game with little chances – the halftime break started goalless.

Two violet goals after the break

The second half began without a change, but with a goal. Christoph Monschein took over a cross from Benedikt Pichler spectacularly with an overhead kick, Oswald blocked the ball but not far enough. Patrick Wimmer poked into Fabian Koch's attempt to make the save, the ball was in goal (46’).

Shortly after WSG had a chance to equalize: After a corner, Raffael Behounek appeared alone in front of the goal, Patrick Pentz was on the spot (48’). Fabian Koch hit the outside netting in the 61^st minute. Alexander Grünwald replaced Max Sax half an hour before the end. Patrick Pentz saved Austria Wien one more time, Kelvin Yeboah failed on our great goalkeeper (69’). After a counterattack, Austria Wien closed the game in the 75^th minute: Manprit Sarkaria initiated the counterattack himself, played a one-two with Patrick Wimmer and overtook Oswald to score the 0-2.

For Wimmer it was over shortly after, Aleksandar Jukić came into the game for the final minutes. Niels Hahn was substituted into the game for Sarkaria. The score didn’t change anymore, Austria Wien managed an away win in the Tivoli Stadium. After four rounds, the “Violets” have seven points, and after the international break, the cup game against the Wiener Sportklub awaits on Oktober 16.
