During the three-part education program in Tanzania, eastern Africa, the Young Coaches learn how to implement safe and age-appropriate football activities for children in their villages. In addition, they are taught how to convey important social values in a playful way.
Austria Wien coach Patrick Haidbauer, who trained young trainers in Tanzania for a week in April, was enthusiastic about the young coaches' willingness to learn, "I see that people here are extremely motivated to work together. We were able to see a very high group dynamic," says Haidbauer. A festival with around 200 children on the football field was the highlight of the week.
The Young Coaches were selected from several regions, as for other Football Club Social Alliance projects before. This should create a large network and increase the positive impact on the country. The Young Coaches will be able to offer football activities and educational games for thousands of children in the future and train other young people to become football coaches.
In the previous project of the Football Club Social Alliance, Austria Wien participated in the training of 100 young football coaches in a refugee camp in Rwanda in October 2018. Comparatively, this time it was possible to build on a higher level:
"We worked with people who were already well-educated, independent, creative and flexible. We were also able to give them a very good input, as some Young Coaches have confirmed during conversations. If you haven’t been part of such a project yourself, you cannot imagine what kind of impact we have on the people here," says Austria Wien coach Haidbauer.
