Austria Wien loans Nadiia Kunina

The multiple Ukrainian international Nadiia Kunina will start hunting for goals for Austria Wien in the 2022/23 season. The 22-year-old attacking player is on loan from Linköpings FC in Sweden and is already training with the Violets.

"First of all, I would like to thank you for the very warm and friendly welcome to the club and the team. I am very happy to be here and hope that I can not only help the team to reach the goals on the pitch, but also contribute positively off the pitch," said Nadiia Kunina.

The 22-year-old played for WFC Zhytlobud-1 Kharkiv in her home country until 2021, when she moved to Linköpings FC in Sweden. With league play in Ukraine still suspended due to the Russian war of aggression, and Kunina getting little playing time at the Damallsvenskan runners-up of late, the Violets were able to lure the tricky attacking player to Vienna.

Kunina, who has already made several appearances for the U17 and U19 national teams, made her debut for the Ukrainian senior team on September 4 in a 2-0 win over Hungary. To date, despite her young age, she has already made over 30 appearances there, scoring four goals in the process.

Sporting director Martin Pototschnig: "With Nadiia, we have been able to win another top international player and multiple national player for us. She is another reinforcement for our offense and we are happy to have her with us in the new season."
