Dietmar Constantini passed away on Wednesday night at the age of 69. In 2019, the Tyrolean's family announced that Constantini was suffering from Alzheimer's disease. He subsequently withdrew from the public eye.

The charismatic coach led the Violets as a ‘fireman’ to the European Cup in 2002 and 2008 despite difficult starting positions. These successes were not the only reasons why Constantini was a favourite with the Violet fans.
