Sports Director Ralf Muhr: “We are pleased to have Maudo Jarjué, a young and developable defensive player with great physical prerequisites, as part of our team. For us it was clear that we needed to make a change to the centre-back. He's a young player who has a lot of experience in the professional field at the same time.”
Head Coach Christian Ilzer: “Maudo Jarjué is a promising player who brings all the assets for a modern central defender and is highly developable.”
Maudo Jarjué: “I am so happy to be here with Austria Wien. This is a great club and for me the next step in my career. I have big goals. I want to achieve a lot with Austria Wien and play internationally. I will work hard for us to succeed together.”
For one and a half years Jarjué played at the Portuguese second league club Gil Vicente FC until summer 2017. During the last two seasons, he was a regular player for FK Sabail, with which he ended the past season on the third place in Azerbaijan.
"I learned a lot in Portugal, but for me it was important to take the next step. I quickly got used to the new environment in Azerbaijan and had a good time there as well, I gained a lot of important experiences,” explains Jarjué, who was trained in an academy in his home country in Guinea-Bissau until 2016.
