‘I'm really excited to join Austria Wien. My new team-mates have given me a very warm welcome and it already feels a bit like home. I'm now looking forward to the start and hope that we'll have a good journey together', said Sara Pavlović, who already travelled to Turkey with the Violets for a training camp in January.

The midfielder won a total of seven titles in Serbia with Spartak Subotica from 2016 to 2020 and made 20 appearances in the UEFA Women's Champions League before taking the leap abroad. Pavlović made 43 appearances in two years for Norwegian club Avaldsnes IL before returning to Serbia in the winter of 2023. From summer 2023, she played in Portugal for FC Famalicão, followed by a move to the Spanish Primera Division to UD Tenerife in winter 2024.

On 10 April 2018, Pavlović made her debut for the Serbian senior national team in the 1-0 win over Israel. With Serbia she has also played twice against Austria. In both duels, Pavlović has already made the acquaintance of Lisa Makas and her new team-mates Gini Kirchberger, Kathi Schiechtl and Carina Wenninger. Austria won both matches in the European Championship qualifiers 1-0.

Lisa Makas, sporting director: ‘Sara brings a lot of experience and quality with her and makes us a level better in the centre of midfield. It's not for nothing that she has played 29 times for the Serbian national team. She impresses with her calmness on the ball and can direct our play. We are very happy to have her in the team and are now looking forward to the restart of the season.’
