The players on loans Uros Matic, Cristian Cuevas and Igor, as well as left-back Thomas Salamon are leaving Austria Wien. Two new entries have already been presented: Stephan Zwierschitz and Benedikt Pichler.
Austria Wien put up a new coaching team with Christian Ilzer and co-trainers Uwe Hölzl, Dominik Deutschl and Sargon Duran. Goalkeeper coach Franz Gruber and athletic coach Quirin Söhnlein remain in the club.
On behalf of Austria Wien Sports Director Ralf Muhr wants to thank the former coaches Robert Ibertsberger, Roman Stary and Max Senft and the players who will leave the club:
“Every single one has been a part in the achievement of our goal - the European Cup and has always given everything for the club. I thank them for their service and wish them all the best for their athletic and private future. I also got to know them personally very positively,” says Ralf Muhr.
During the past season Uros Matic completed a total of 35 official games for Austria Wien, scored six goals and contributed five assists. Centre-back Igor played in 30 games in 2018/19, left-back Cristian Cuevas in 19. The long-time ‘Violet’ Thomas Salamon, from our own academy, played in 102 games for Austria Wien between 2014 and 2019.
