The Violet coaching team gave those players who have had less of a chance to show themselves in their preparations so far the opportunity to play against the regional league team. Among others, newcomer Billy Koumetio started in central defense, Florian Wustinger played as a defensive midfielder, Manuel Polster on the wing and Romeo Vučić up front.
It was the 19-year-old striker who quickly put the Veilchen in front, finishing well-placed from close range in the fourth minute after putting the ball with his back to goal. Less than ten minutes later, Vučić was in the right place after a cross from Matthias Braunöder and increased to 2-0.
Marchfeld, with the two Austria legends Thomas Flügel (coach) and Ernst Baumeister (sports director) in charge, found it difficult to get into the game and could pose little to no danger to Austria. On the opposite side, on the other hand, often not much was missing, the best chance for the third goal Braunöder missed free standing in the penalty area.
At the break, Matteo Meisl, James Holland and Armand Smrcka came into the game, but the scorer remained the same. Vučić struck again in the 55th minute to complete his hat-trick. After an hour, he was replaced by Muharem Husković, Reinhold Ranftl, Andreas Gruber and Manfred Fischer.
After a fine combination through the opponent's defense Husković finished to 4-0 (78th), the fifth goal prevented the crossbar when Fischer aimed too accurately after a free kick cross from Smrcka (87th).
Manfred Schmid: "Today we deliberately gave those players the chance who have not yet been able to show themselves - and I think they presented themselves well. Overall, it was a good test against a strong opponent, we can be satisfied. It was also nice to meet an old teammate, Thomas Flögel. Now we're looking forward to getting started with the Cup on Saturday."
