On Monday, October 4, the 25th Bruno Gala will take place in the Wiener Stadthalle. At the anniversary edition, three Violets are nominated: Karina Bauer as best player, Patrick Pentz as best goalkeeper and Dominik Fitz for the dream goal of the season.
The Bruno, which is awarded annually in memory of Austrian soccer icon Bruno Pezzey, is one of the most prestigious honors in domestic soccer. For the 25th time, the Association of Footballers (VdF) and younion _ Die Daseinsgemeinschaft are holding the election this year - and Austria Vienna is nominated three times!
Karina Bauer is up for election as player of the season. The offensive all-rounder was 2020/21 with 15 goals in the Planet Pure Women's Bundesliga best scorer of the violets and league-wide on the second place behind Lisa Kolb of USV Neulengbach, who is also nominated. Mateja Zver of champions SKN St. Pölten was named as the third player.
Patrick Pentz, who was already voted goalkeeper of the season by the coaches, managers and presidents of the Bundesliga clubs in the summer, is also on the shortlist for this award at the Bruno Gala. He is joined by Alexander Schlager of LASK and Cican Stankovic of Red Bull Salzburg.
Only active players are eligible to vote in these two main categories. For the special awards, the voting process is slightly adapted. The dream goal of the season will be voted for live by the guests at the Bruno Gala.
Dominik Fitz's goal from over 40 meters to make it 2:0 in the European Cup playoff semifinal against TSV Hartberg will be voted for. His rivals are Daniel Maderner of SKN St. Pölten and Ercan Kara of our city rivals.
The Bruno Gala will be broadcast live on ORF Sport+ on Monday, October 4, starting at 8:15 pm.
