A superior Austria in all respects clearly defeated SV Ried in the 9th round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga with 3-0. Andreas Gruber put the Violets in the lead, Dominik Fitz and Can Keles each added a goal. 22 shots on goal as well as three shots on target proved a highly deserved Violets victory before the international break.
Austria were a touch more attacking than in the away game at Lech Poznan, with Muharem Husković starting in place of James Holland. Newcomer Nikola Dovedan was on the bench for the first time.
We welcomed an old acquaintance to our opponents from Ried, Christoph Monschein making his first appearance at the Generali-Arena since leaving Austria. Coach Christian Heinle made four changes after the 3-0 defeat to Red Bull Salzburg. Julian Turi, David Ungar, Seifedin Chabbi and Luca Kronberger were new to the squad, with Leo Mikić missing after a red card.
Muharem Husković had the first scoring chance for the Veilchen after ten minutes, but was one step offside. On the other side, Reinhold Ranftl cleared a header by Seifedin Chabbi before the line (13th). Andreas Gruber got a header opportunity after a cross from Marvin Martins, a shot from Aleksandar Jukić was too central (15th, 21st). Shortly after, the Austria fans in the stadium were allowed to celebrate. Manfred Fischer tore open the entire Ried back line with a brilliant pass from his own defense, and Andi Gruber didn't miss the chance and made it 1:0 (27th).
Another shot by Gruber was deflected to the corner by Samuel Sahin-Radlinger, Husković only hit the bar (34th, 36th). Dominik Fitz served Jukić ideally, but his cross found no taker (39th). Husković's shot just missed the second bar (42nd), and the Violets went into the break with a well-deserved lead.
After the change of ends, Austria continued as before, not even letting themselves be impressed by the strong wind and rain. Matthias Braunöder sent Husković on the right side, whose cross was slammed into the corner by Dominik Fitz from 18 meters - another candidate for the goal of the month (47th). Even after the 2-0 only the home team played.
Braunöder shot over the goal, Sahin-Radlinger parried a shot by Fitz (50th, 53rd). In a free kick by Dominik Fitz, who was very strong again today, the Ried goalkeeper would also have been powerless, but the ball clattered against the bar (59th). Can Keles, who came on as a substitute for Andreas Gruber, made everything clear in the 68th minute: Julian Turi was too short to clear Fitz's free kick, and Keles was ready to head in for 3-0.
In the meantime, the sun was shining again in Vienna-Favoriten and Manfred Schmid brought on Haris Tabaković and Nikola Dovedan. Aleksandar Jukić and Muharem Husković finished their successful day's work. Dominik Fitz just missed after Ranftl's assist and Ried had a goal with a crossbar by Denizcan Cosgun (70th, 74th). In the final phase, almost 9,000 spectators were able to admire two Bundesliga debuts: Matteo Meisl and Manuel Polster came on for Lucas Galvão and Matthias Braunöder. Polster hit the bar in the 87th minute, but the result did not change.
Austria beat SV Ried 3-0, fully deserved, is now unbeaten for six Bundesliga games and climbs to fourth place in the table.
