Courtney Strode joins the Violets

Austria Wien has signed a new striker, 27-year-old Courtney Strode. The accurate American last played for Swiss first division club BSC YB Women, winning the championship in 2024/25 and finishing as the league's top scorer twice in a row.

‘The club approached me because it is ambitious and has clear goals. I can imagine achieving these goals together with them. The city is beautiful, and I have heard many good things about it. All in all, it seemed like a great new challenge and an adventure in a new country. I am excited to see what this year will bring,’ says Courtney Strode.

With 61 goals in a total of 99 competitive games and 19 additional assists for BSC YB Women, Strode was one of the most prominent attackers in Switzerland. After several years in France and Sweden, the 27-year-old moved to Switzerland in 2020 and quickly proved her skills. With success, as the American gained more and more recognition in Swiss women's football. In 2023/24, she made it into the team of the season and was also the league's top scorer. She achieved the same feat in 2024/25, when she won her first championship title in 14 years with YB.
