Derby in the Cup Round of 16

Austria plays Wiener Sport-Club in the round of 16 of the UNIQA ÖFB Cup on Thursday at 8:30 pm. "It will be a great cup evening for both clubs, a Viennese derby is always something special," emphasises coach Manfred Schmid.

Sport-Club is currently fifth in the Regionalliga Ost and eliminated Austria Lustenau (2:0), a Bundesliga team, in the second round of the Cup. The Violets celebrated two clear victories against FC Wels (7:0) and ASV Siegendorf (5:0).

"We don't have to discuss the role of the favourites, but then you also have to see that on the pitch. I expect us to perform like we have in our Cup matches so far this season. We will approach the game with the necessary respect and seriousness, that is always our approach and will be no different this time," explains Manfred Schmid.

The team can also be sure of the support of the Austria fans for the away game in Dornbach. Of the 1,800 tickets for the Austria sector (blue stand opposite the cemetery stand), only 250 are left as of Wednesday morning. The tickets are still available for purchase in the Austria fan shop until 6pm on Wednesday, and if there are any tickets left after that, they will be sold at the guest box office at the Sport-Club-Stadion on match day.

Head of defence Lukas Mühl (adductor problems) is still questionable. Johannes Handl has been back in team training since the beginning of the week, but is not yet available for Thursday. In addition, El Sheiwi, Wustinger, Husković and Raguž are long-term injured.
