Derby in first cup round

Austria Wien will face SG FAC/USC Landhaus in the first round of the SPORTLAND Niederösterreich Women's Cup 2024/25. The Violets must therefore prevail against their former cooperation club USC Landhaus, which has formed a playing partnership with Floridsdorfer AC since 2022. The clash will take place at Landhaus-Platz on September 7 at 6:00 pm.

With SG FAC/USC Landhaus, the women of Austria will face a very challenging opponent. After the match against First Vienna FC, the cup duel against the Floridsdorf side is now the next (small) Viennese derby of the season. The team from Vienna's 21st district plays in the 2nd Women's Bundesliga and can look back on a successful start to the season so far: After two played duels, Landhaus stands at six points.

Although Landhaus were eliminated in the second round of the cup last year, Bundesliga runners-up First Vienna, among others, almost had their teeth out against the second-division club. After a very evenly-matched duel, the team only had to concede defeat to the favorites from Döbling in a penalty shoot-out.

Challenging task

Austria's women, on the other hand, made it to the final of the 2023/24 Cup. And even though the Violets have made an almost perfect start to the new season with three wins in three games, head coach Stefan Kenesei is aware of the challenging task ahead. He warns against getting overconfident: "Ideally, we'll take the momentum of the last victories with us. But with FAC/USC Landhaus, a very difficult opponent awaits us in this derby. It will be a difficult task, but of course we want to make sure we get as far as possible in the cup. We therefore have to prepare just as we would if it were a Bundesliga match and will be highly focused going into this clash."
