Similar to the game against Altach Thorsten Fink focused on well rested players. This time David de Paula, Richard Winbichler and Thomas Salamon were standing in the defence next to Petar Filipovic. The deep-lying midfield role took Ognjen Vukojevic. Ismael Tajouri-Shradi and Kevin Friesenbichler were in the offense.
After his injury Christian Fröschl was able to support SV Ried again and Ronny Marcos played in the midfield instead of Michael Brandner.
The “Violets” started strong, but shots from Feilpe Pires after great ground work from Alexander Grünwald (5.) and from Kevin Friesenbichler (7.) weren’t strong enough. In minute 15 Ried had their first chance with a large range volley from Fröschl but Robert Almer made the save. After a beautiful combination with Thomas Salamon, Ismael Tajouri-Shradi shot and scored – 1:0.
The “Violets” kept leading the game, a shot from Pires was deflected which ended in a corner (30.). Ried didn’t show much and FK Austria’s lead wasn’t in danger until halftime.
SV Ried started stronger into the second half and after a few minutes Richard Winbichler had to make a save against Honsak (47.) Also a shot from Walch went close by Robert Almer’s goal (48.). The “Violets” answered with a lift from Grünwald after great ground work from Salamon but he fired the ball just wide (55.). In minute 61 another chance thanks to Honsak who passed to Fröschl who’s header missed the goal.
Thorsten Fink brought Tarkan Serbest for Alexander Grünwald in minute 64. Kevin Friesenbichler showed a great performance with a header which went only centimetres by the goal (70.). Honsak answered: first he shot from an acute angle and after a corner the 19-year-old headed the ball into the goal – 1:1 (71.).
Thorsten Fink reacted to the surprising equalizer and brought first Marko Kvasina for Raphael Holzhauser and later Larry Kayode for Ognjen Vukojevic. Kvasina quickly ended up in a dual with Zulj who fought himself free, referee Kollegger thought he saw an elbow and red-carded Zulj – a refereeing error (77.).
In the last minutes of the game FK Austria Wien worked hard with shots from Serbest (80.) and Salamon (87.) for a winning-goal. The “Violets” were lucky after a mistake from the defence and Walch standing alone in front of Almer but he shot the ball next to the goal (88.). Pires didn’t utilise the chance for a winning-goal during the stoppage time and so the game ended 1:1.
