El Sheiwi out with torn cruciate ligament

Bad news for Ziad El Sheiwi and Austria Wien. The left-back suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament in his right knee right from the start of the Vienna derby on Sunday and will be out for at least eight months.

The left-back has been playing for the Violets since 2011, went through the entire youth and academy system and only signed a professional contract in the summer.

Coach Manfred Schmid immediately noticed the 17-year-old at the Young Violets. El Sheiwi was pulled up into the squad of the fighting team and has already played six Bundesliga games this year, eight games he also came into play for the Young Violets.

He is not expected to be able to return to training until the summer preparation in June. More information is expected after the operation, against this background, no precise forecasts are given regarding a possible downtime. Club doctor Dr. Marcus Hofbauer will operate.
