Austria Wien leading the bottom of the table with a victory against Altach

At the start of the qualification group, Austria Wien finally won 2-0 against Altach. Marco Djuricin and Dominik Fitz scored in the closing stages and shot the “Violets” to the top of the table.

Andreas Poulsen played twice for the Danish U21 national team and was given a break today. Patrick Wimmer took the position on the left in the back four, Stephan Zwierschitz on his side. Georg Teigl moved into the midfield, Markus Suttner was back in the squad for the first time after his injury. Vesel Demaku started in defensive midfield alongside Eric Martel. Christoph Monschein started as the solo striker this time, Marco Djuricin took a seat on the bench for the time being.

Under coach Damir Canadi, SCR Altach scored nine points in four games and moved up from the bottom of the table. The double goal scorer from the victory against Ried, Emanuel Schreiner, injured himself during training. This time Manfred Fischer and Daniel Nussbaumer started up front. Anderson Dos Santos and Alain Wiss were new to the starting line-up.

Two goals by Austria Wien were not recognized

Stephan Zwierschitz scored after a corner by Manprit Sarkaria and an extension by Eric Martel in the 9th minute for the supposed lead, but the goal was not recognized by referee Christopher Jäger for unknown reasons. A volley by Dominik Fitz after a cross by Martel just missed the goal (25’). A finish by Christoph Monschein was briefly blocked by Martin Kobras, Eric Martel lifted the ball over the goalkeeper. Jan Zwischenbrugger cleared the ball. It could not be determined with certainty whether it had already crossed the line (45’).

The game was otherwise rather mixed during the first half, with a 0-0 the half-time break started.

Djuricin and Fitz scored - this time the goals counted

With the restart of the game pouring rain set in, still few chances for both teams. Marco Djuricin was supposed to fix the problem, he came in for Christoph Monschein. His first finish went over the goal (66’). Markus Suttner replaced U21 team player Patrick Wimmer. Erik Palmer-Brown prevented Fischer from scoring for Altach in a counterattack, Anderson put a header next to the goal during the resulting corner kick (76’).

Austria Wien took the lead in the 80th minute: Eric Martel prevented an attack from Altach in the midfield, the ball got to Marco Djuricin via Stephan Zwierschitz and Manprit Sarkaria, who let Jan Zwischenbrugger score the 1-0. A counterattack over Manprit Sarkaria ended with Dominik Fitz, who was knocked off his feet in the penalty area by Anderson. Fitz shot the penalty shot himself and scored the 2-0 (88’).

Alexander Grünwald replaced Fitz for the last few minutes, Eric Martel saw his 5th yellow card in the final minute and will not be able to play against Hartberg next week. The score didn’t change, Austria Wien took over the table lead in the qualification group of the tipico-Bundesliga.
