Austria Wien wins three points against Admira

Austria Wien took the lead with a spectacular goal by Patrick Wimmer shortly before the break, Vesel Demaku closed the game with the 0-2 in the 88th minute.

This time, Peter Stöger relied on Georg Teigl and Andreas Poulsen as full-backs. Otherwise the starting eleven remained unchanged, Benedikt Pichler was back in the squad for the first time after a long red card suspension.

Admira won in Altach on Tuesday, Damir Buric only made one change. Milos Spasic replaced Andrew Wooten on the left-back.

Great goal by Patrick Wimmer

Manprit Sarkaria fired the first shot of the game, Admira goalkeeper Andreas Leitner was on the spot (4’). Marco Djuricin crashed into Leitner after a nice action over Eric Martel and Andreas Poulsen, but both were able to continue after treatment (5’). Dominik Fitz failed on Leitner with a shot from the penalty area, Sarkaria shot over the goal from a greater distance (15’, 17’). After a great pass by Andreas Poulsen, Sarkaria had another chance, but his finish was prevented by Spasic at the last moment (20’).

Austria Wien was the dominant team, 8-2 shots on goal, over 60% possession in the first half. They scored the well-deserved lead after the 5^th corner: Dominik Fitz brought the ball into the middle, Eric Martel's header was parried by Leitner. Patrick Wimmer used the follow-up shot spectacularly with an overhead kick - 0-1, already in stoppage time.

Vesel Demaku scored his first goal

In the second half there was a reunion with Max Sax, he was the substitute for Spasic. Marco Djuricin had a chance after a corner kick, but his header was too weak (46’). Wimmer got the ball on the left, Vesel Demaku's shot was deflected to another corner (48’). Eric Martel shot from a great distance, Leitner turned the ball over the crossbar (51’). On the other side, Patrick Pentz fished a free kick by Roman Kerschbaum from the corner - Admira's first significant chance in the 53^rd minute.

Marco Djuricin missed from about 20 meters (55’) and was replaced a little later by Christoph Monschein. Thomas Ebner came for Dominik Fitz. Patrick Wimmer missed the goal with a long shot and a header after a free-kick by Sarkaria (68’, 77’). The goal scorer was blocked during a finish after a cross by Georg Teigl (79’). Andreas Leitner directed a shot by Vesel Demaku past the goal - only a few centimeters next to the goal (80’).

Admira’s Andrew Wooten hit the bar (83’). The “Violets” were lucky, but Vesel Demaku ended the game with his first goal in the tipico Bundesliga. Christoph Monschein made his way forward on the left, Manprit Sarkaria placed his cross towards Demaku, who deliberately scored into the far corner (88’).

Because of a draw between Hartberg and Altach, Austria Wien took the lead in the qualifying group, and another duel with Admira will take place on Tuesday.
