First UWCL home game against Inter

The first home match of the UEFA Women's Champions League league phase is coming up. About a week after the clash with Chelsea, the opponent on Thursday will be Inter. The Veilchen aim to approach the game with confidence and deliver a performance similar to the one against the English team—though hopefully with an even more satisfying result. The Veilchen's performance against Chelsea was nothing short of outstanding; the only thing missing against the English side was goals. On Thursday they aim to change that in their first home match of the UEFA Women's Champions League. Playing Inter Milan at the Franz-Horr-Stadion, the violet women hope to score a few goals—and, ideally, keep some points in Vienna after the match.

Verena Hanshaw: "I rate Inter very highly. They are technically very skilled, and naturally, this will be a completely different game compared to our last match. However, I think the physicality we bring to the game could work to our advantage. I believe that’s how we can break them down, though it will still be a very tough match."

1–0 win in the UWCL opener

Although Inter's women's team has a relatively short history—having existed for only eight years—they have been making waves in the Italian league since their inception. Last season, the team from Milan finished second and also delivered strong performances in the Europe Cup. In the first round of the UWCL, they faced BK Häcken and secured a 1–0 home victory.

Stefan Kenesei: "I think Inter Milan has invested heavily in the squad in recent years, particularly over the last two seasons, bringing in several high-profile players. Last year, Inter stepped onto the international stage in European competition for the first time and performed well. The Inter Milan name alone implies an ambition to compete in the Champions League, and they started their campaign with a win accordingly. They are a team of very high quality, but also an opponent against whom we can once again measure ourselves against the best."

Recent 2–0 win in the big match against Sturm Graz

The Veilchen also managed to exceed many people's expectations in their match against Chelsea, meaning their opponents will certainly approach Thursday's game with a degree of caution. Austria also boosted their confidence in the league recently, securing a 2–0 away victory in the top clash against Sturm Graz.
