Helm: “It shows a healthy team spirit”
On Saturday at 7.30 pm, Austria are away to Grazer AK. It is the last match before the long league break due to international fixtures, which includes two weekends without matches. The league action resumes on 10 October with a home match against Sturm Graz. “We’re determined to secure a positive result before the long break,” emphasises manager Stephan Helm.

Last Sunday, the Veilchen managed to secure the three points they’d been hoping for with a last-minute home win against SC Austria Lustenau, thereby climbing out of the bottom of the table. “Of course, we were desperate to take a step up the table. It was also important that, compared to the match against WSG Tirol, we were able to take a visible step in the right direction with our performance on the pitch. Now we want to build on the momentum from that late victory,” says Helm.
The goals in the 2–1 win against Austria Lustenau were scored by the two substitute strikers, Julian Hettwer and Kelvin Boateng, who also set up the equaliser. “It’s very positive that players coming off the bench are making an impact on the game. That also demonstrates a healthy mentality within the team and gives us additional options for the next match, should certain players stand out with their performances,” explains Stephan Helm.
GAK have already undergone a change of manager. Former BW Linz coach Gerald Scheiblehner has been in charge for just under a month, and the Graz side have been unbeaten since then. A 0–0 home draw against WAC was followed by a 2–0 cup win against Kitzbühel and, last Saturday, a 2–1 away victory in Altach.
“Gerald Scheiblehner has a clear vision and knows the league very well. We’re very well prepared for GAK. We’ll have to give our absolute best in every aspect to win the match,” says Helm.
