After the narrow 1:2 home defeat last weekend, Austria will face FC Red Bull Salzburg again on Sunday at 14:30 (live in the Viola Sportsbar). "The disappointment was great because we lost unhappily. We would have deserved much more in the three games against Salzburg in total, always played well and did not score, but complaining does not get us anywhere, we must look to finally reward ourselves on Sunday in Salzburg: Now more than ever," says coach Manfred Schmid.

At the halfway point of the championship group, the Violets are only one point off third place, with a duel with each of their rivals still on the agenda. Salzburg can already secure the championship title with a win under its own steam:
"I have great respect for Matthias Jaissle and his work at Salzburg. They are rightly on the verge of the title. But we're certainly not going to Salzburg just to stand guard for the championship celebration," Manfred Schmid emphasizes.
The Violets will stay in Salzburg after Sunday's game, train there and then travel on to Carinthia, where the next important game is already on the agenda on Wednesday (27.04.) at 6:30 p.m. against WAC: "We can expect an exciting trip with two highly interesting games. We want to take points to Vienna and go into the short break before the Vienna derby with a good starting position," explains the Austria coach.
The following weekend (30.4./1.5.) is match-free for the Violets, on May 1 the Cup final between Salzburg and Ried takes place. After that, Austria will start the championship group finals with the home derby (Sunday, May 8, 5:00 p.m.).
This is followed by the away game against Austria Klagenfurt (Sunday, May 15, 5:00 p.m.) and the home finale against Sturm Graz (Saturday, May 21, 5:00 p.m.).
The Veilchen are exuding optimism ahead of the hot phase in the championship group: "The mood in the team is very good, the boys sensed that we were very close to taking something against Salzburg," described coach Manfred Schmid.
In addition to the long-term injured Ziad El Sheiwi and Georg Teigl, Muharem Huskovic is also still out, the 19-year-old striker is suffering from a muscle injury and will be examined more closely by a specialist. Otherwise, all players are fit and ready for the away match in Salzburg.
