Johannes Handl extends until 2026

Johannes Handl signed a new contract with Austria Wien until the summer of 2026. The central defender has been playing for the Violets since 2019, first with the Young Violets and quickly also with the First Team. To date, he has played a total of 82 competitive games for Austria Wien.

"I am very happy that my journey here in Violett continues. I'm sure I'll have another great three years and playing for this club makes me proud. It's really great and I can hardly wait for the championship to start again," said Johannes Handl.

Sporting director Manuel Ortlechner: "Johannes Handl is an often underestimated central defender who is held in high esteem by the club. We are convinced that he also has upward potential."

Handl missed most of the autumn season due to injury, but already celebrated his comeback in the last games of 2022 and is now fully in training.

The 24-year-old native of Graz moved to Favoriten from Wacker Innsbruck in the summer of 2019, and Handl previously played for SV Lafnitz and Sturm Graz.
