Kraetschmer, ‘Postponing the games is a reasonable decision’

Based on the developments of the past few hours and the measure taken today by the federal government to contain the coronavirus in banning outdoor events with more than 500 people, there are also effects on the Bundesliga.

The games of the Tipico Bundesliga and the HPYBET 2nd League will be suspended for the time being. In a first step, this affects the 23rd and 24th round of the Tipico Bundesliga and the 20th and 21st round of the HPYBET 2nd league. The Austrian Football Bundesliga will decide on the new dates for these games in a club conference next week.

Statement by CEO Markus Kraetschmer: ‘We already discussed this topic in great detail last week during the club conference. Of course, health is always the most important thing and that's why these postponements are a very sensible decision. Of course, this is a big challenge but it is better this way, because there is still time to catch up on these games at a later date. And hopefully with spectators in the stadiums.’

An internal club meeting is scheduled for Wednesday morning, in which after consultation with the Bundesliga and the responsible authorities, all questions relating to this far-reaching decision will be compiled and answered promptly.
