Founded in 2017, the club from the Georgian capital Tbilisi currently plays in the Erovnuli Liga 2, the country's second highest division. With four promotions in its first five years of existence, Spaeri catapulted itself from the sixth to the second division and immediately became runner-up there, but missed out on promotion in the playoffs after a penalty shootout.
In 2023 – Georgia has a year-round championship – the club finished third and once again made it to the promotion playoffs. In 2024, Spaeri finished the championship in fifth place, but became only the second second division club in Georgian history to win the cup and thus qualify for the Conference League. In the final on 5 December 2024, they beat hot favourites Dinamo Tbilisi 5-4 on penalties after the score was 2-2 after extra time. Incidentally, Spaeri celebrated the greatest success in the club's history at the Mikheil Meskhi Stadium – where the return leg against Austria will take place on 31 July.
In the current season, Spaeri is comfortably in first place in the Georgian second division after 16 rounds, nine points ahead of the second-placed team. The league has been on summer break since the beginning of June and will remain so until 4 August.
