Last minute win against Altach!

Austria fell behind against Altach despite a pressing superiority shortly before the break through a free kick by Forson. Immediately after the change of ends, Dominik Fitz scored the equaliser, and in the 93rd minute, the playmaker confidently sank a penalty. The three points stayed in favourites, the violets returned to the top-6 of the league.

Austria's squad situation has not changed since Thursday, so Manfred Schmid's starting eleven remained almost unchanged. Only Nikola Dovedan, who is not eligible to play in the European Cup, started instead of Georg Teigl. Thus Can Keles also started for the first time since the 1st round in the Bundesliga.

Altach coach Miroslav Klose saw no reason at all for a change after recent successful games, the starting line-up being the same for the fourth time in a row.

Austria had the chances, Altach scored

In light fog in the Generali Arena, both teams started rather cautiously. The first small chance for the Veilchen went through the youngsters on the pitch: Matteo Meisl played to Manuel Polster, via Dominik Fitz the ball came to Matthias Braunöder, but he was prevented from finishing (10th). A free kick by Fitz was headed over the goal by Meisl, on the other side Atdhe Nuhiu missed a header after a free kick by Amankwah Forson (17th, 20th). After another Fitz free-kick, a Manfred Fischer finish was blocked (28th). A little later, Keles moved into the penalty area and his cross landed with Fitz. Fitz's shot hit Polster, who ultimately failed to beat Tino Casali in the Altacher goal (29.). Keles initiated another great chance for the Violets, this time Jan Zwischenbrugger cleared a shot by Marvin Martins just on the line (32.).

A lead for Austria would have been overdue by now, the home team created chances every minute: Fitz tried to surprise Casali with a shot to the short corner after a great pass from Fischer - just missed (36.). Dovedan won the ball at the sixteenth, Braunöder to Fitz - over (37.). Fitz set up Nikola Dovedan - again missed (38.). Polster to Dovedan - cleared by Zwischenbrugger (40.).

It came as it had to come, completely contrary to the course of the game, the Vorarlberg took the lead. Forson sank a free kick from 22 metres. Christian Früchtl was on the ball but could not prevent the visitors from taking the lead (42nd). Austria had to catch up in the second half.

Dominik Fitz turned the game around with two goals

The second half also began with rolling attacks by Austria, but with one difference: this time the ball went in. Manuel Polster came down the left side after an assist from Nikola Dovedan, and Dominik Fitz converted his cross - 1:1 (47th).

After the equaliser, Austria continued to dominate the game and Altach switched to a four-man defence. Can Keles moved inside, his left-footed shot grazed the right bar (53rd). After an hour, Haris Tabaković replaced Dovedan. Tabaković missed the chance to take the lead shortly after his substitution after a pass from Keles (71.).

Manfred Schmid then made three substitutions: James Holland, Georg Teigl and Ibrahima Drame came on for Braunöder, Keles and Polster. Holland chipped the ball to Tabaković, the Swiss headed over the goal (74.). A cross from Teigl after a nice pass from Fitz found no taker (79.). Tabaković passed to Fitz, but he did not hit the ball correctly (82.). Manfred Fischer volleyed over the goal, Austria's 20th shot on goal (83rd).

Altach only scored in the absolute final phase, Nuhiu with a header and Lukas Jäger missed (86th, 88th). In between, Tabaković put a turning shot next to the goal (86th). In injury time, Felix Strauss blocked Fitz's cross with his hand and referee Christopher Jäger immediately awarded a penalty. Dominik Fitz did not miss the chance and scored confidently for the final score of 2:1 (90.+3), more than 12,000 spectators in the Generali-Arena were allowed to celebrate the Violets.
