Austria Vienna has tied a promising talent to the club for the long term with Philipp Maybach. The 17-year-old midfielder has extended his contract until 2028, continuing his chosen path with the Violets. At the age of 13, Maybach moved from Vienna to Austria, where he progressed through all the academy teams, starting with the U15s, before making the leap to the Young Violets at the age of 16.

After 13 appearances in the Regionalliga Ost, he was integrated into the squad in the summer under the direction of Stephan Helm. On 18 August 2024 in the 1:1 draw in Hartberg, the six-man made his Bundesliga debut at the age of 16 years, 8 months and 4 days, entering the history books as the youngest Austrian since the Bundesliga was founded in 1974/75.

In addition, the violet home-grown player will have the opportunity to gain valuable match practice at second division level as a co-operation player at SV Stripfing.

Sporting Director Manuel Ortlechner: ‘The extension of Philipp Maybach's contract is first and foremost a tribute to all his companions over the past few years and emphasises the outstanding work in our academy. Philipp combines numerous qualities that we expect from a modern six-man: In addition to his pronounced physicality, he has a very good technical education, is very focussed and has a good environment. Philipp has developed rapidly over the past year and made the leap from the academy and Young Violets to the pros in a very short space of time. Now our focus is on giving him the best possible support to gain a foothold in the professional game. He will therefore be given the opportunity to gain valuable match practice at second division level at our partner club SV Stripfing.’

Philipp Maybach: ‘As a home-grown player who has come through the entire academy, turning professional at my club is something very special for me. I'm grateful for the trust placed in me and want to repay it on the pitch. My goal is to firmly establish myself in the Austria Wien squad in the future.’
