"Optimistic mood" in the Austria cabin

The 1-1 draw at home against Lech Poznan meant early elimination from the UEFA Europa Conference League, but also showed "a mature performance by the team", emphasised coach Manfred Schmid. Accordingly, the Veilchen are optimistic about the members' match against Altach on Sunday, kick-off is at 14:30.

On Friday morning, as usual, a regeneration unit was on the weekly schedule in Vienna-Favoriten after an intense European Cup evening. Coach Manfred Schmid had many talks with the players and reported: "The mood in the dressing room is very good, we regenerated today, communicated a lot and made sure we cleared our heads. We will decide which players will ultimately be able to play on Sunday."

The Veilchen can be satisfied with their performance in the 1-1 draw against Polish champions Lech Poznan: "The team put in a mature performance, played courageous football from the back and hardly allowed any chances at the back. When we conceded a goal, we defended badly as a collective. After that, we tried to change our attacking style, which almost worked out with the two chances we had at the end. Basically, the mood is good and very optimistic," Schmid said.

Altach recently celebrated victories against WAC and Hartberg and is now only two points behind Austria in the table. The Veilchen lost the first duel of the season 2:3 in Vorarlberg after leading 2:0: "Altach won three of the last four games - the only defeat was against Salzburg. We remember back to the game in Altach, where we suffered a very bitter defeat. We certainly have a score to settle, but we know that there is a team coming that plays good football and has a very good coach (note: Miroslav Klose)," says Manfred Schmid, who gives an update on the personnel situation:

"Today it looks like Mühl will not be back. Gruber stayed home sick today, Jukic hasn't trained yet. That's why I don't expect much to change in the squad compared to Thursday."
