Austria Wien will play second division side SV Horn in the last 16 of the UNIQA ÖFB Cup on Wednesday at 6:15 pm. The Violets are ‘well prepared’ and of course favourites, but the Lower Austrians will not be underestimated.
After three wins in a row in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, coach Stephan Helm's team now face their next cup match. ‘The team is in very good shape and there is a lot of internal competition due to several players returning from injury’, explained the Violet head coach. ‘We have rewarded ourselves with important points in the last few games and want to use the momentum to continue to win our games.’
That's what the Violets want to happen in Horn: ‘Our goal is of course to advance to the quarter-finals. However, it's clear that you always need 100 per cent in the cup, no matter who you're playing against. And that's exactly how we'll approach this game. We're well prepared, but it's important that we bring our strengths onto the pitch and get more and more confidence into our processes’, said Helm.
What characterises Horn's opponents? ‘They have a clear game plan and are bold, so we have to be prepared for that.’ The fact that the team from Waldviertel are currently only 13th in the 2nd division and have been without a win since 22 September - 1-0 against Liefering at the time and two draws and three defeats since then - is rather unimportant. ‘Everything is very close in this league. We won't underestimate Horn under any circumstances.’
Johannes Handl and Luca Pazourek as well as Ziad El Sheiwi are still out, Florian Wustinger will also be resting in the cup. Otherwise, the Violet coaching team can draw on a full squad. ‘We will also field the best possible team on Wednesday’, promised Helm.
