A lot of good news in just over 24 hours! The approval for the team training came on Tuesday, today the date for the continuation of the season was decided during the club conference.

The 2019/20 championship will continue immediately after Pentecost with the start of the final rounds on Tuesday, June 2nd (Austria Wien - Admira). The qualifying group finale will take place on Saturday, July 4th, the final of the champion group will be on the following Sunday, July 5th.

The Europa League play-off game will be played from July 8th to July 15th, ending the 2019/20 season of the Tipico Bundesliga on this final matchday. The rest of the season will be full of “English rounds”, the games should be played as soon as possible. FK Austria Wien will play the 23rd to the 32nd round in a Tuesday-Saturday rhythm.

AG board member Markus Kraetschmer says, ‘I would like to congratulate the Bundesliga for having worked out this solution with the politicians. Thanks also to our government, because 14 days ago we were faced with a huge dilemma. It was very important for a schedule to be put in place and a great concept has been worked out.’ Now detailed work has to be done to implement the concept as best as possible and to raise general awareness among the players and coaches too.

Kraetschmer continues, ‘We have a role model function and as a Bundesliga we have a pioneering role. At the same time, it is also a huge opportunity for all team sports, including amateur, women's and girls' and children's football. We have to be very disciplined about the tasks, but we have already done a lot of preparation work and many things have become quite normal for us during training.’

Everyone is aware that ghost games are only an emergency solution and a bridge for it to continue. ‘The next step is to bring the audience back to the stadium step by step.’ In addition, the findings of the past few weeks should be considered and if everything works out while restaurants, bars and cafes are open again, why not open stadiums as the next step?

‘It must be our common goal to quickly return to normal,’ says Kraetschmer
