The day after the test match win against NŠ Mura, a relaxed session was on the agenda. In light rain, the Violets played a football tennis tournament. The six teams of four players each played against each other on three pitches - from the “Hirschenliga” to the Champions League, as they were called. Whoever wins advances to the next field, whoever loses has to go back one field.
The team with Abubakr Barry, Andreas Gruber, Luca Pazourek and Samuel Şahin-Radlinger was no match for anyone. With six wins from just as many games, the four of them easily won the tournament. Videos will follow soon on the violet social media channels.
The winner photo can be seen at the top of the article. Can you spot who's sneaking in the background?
The players had the afternoon to themselves. Because the weather wasn't quite good today, many Austria players were to be found in the spa area, one or two players were in the gym and a larger group played cards on the beach under a large parasol, sheltered from the light rain.
As in previous days, one eye was always on the Violet U19s, who are competing in the REWE Junior Cup in Göttingen. Especially the youngest Violets such as Philipp Maybach, Konstantin Aleksa and Kenan Jusić, who played together with some of the Göttingen boys, followed the games excitedly on the live stream. In the end, after two tournament victories in a row, this year's tournament unfortunately ended in the quarter-finals.
Sporting director Manuel Ortlechner also used the afternoon to answer your numerous questions on Instagram. Under the motto “You ask, Orti answers”, you wanted to know more about current topics. From Dominik Fitz and Muharem Husković to the players on loan to Orti's favorite players and why he likes being at Austria Wien so much.
