The diary from Antalya provides daily insights into the training camp. What was said, how they trained, who excelled. You won't miss a thing here.
It's not just the players who are being challenged at the training camp, the Violet physio team also have their hands full in Turkey. Jonas Gary, Johanna Aschenbrenner and Marko Gagić, who normally works for partner club SV Stripfing and is helping out during these ten days, are virtually booked up all day. “Of course, we start the day with everyone else at breakfast. Afterwards, we start preparing for training, which involves taping the players, for example,” explains Gary.
A physio is then present at the training session itself to be able to intervene immediately in the event of minor aches and pains or injuries. The other two stay at the hotel and work with injured players in the gym. As soon as they have showered after training, treatments and regenerative procedures follow. “After lunch, we virtually start all over again. In between, of course, we discuss with the coaching team which players will take part in training and who might need a break,” says the 28-year-old physiotherapist, who also plays football himself. In the evenings, the three of them are on duty every day until around 10:30 pm, until all treatments have been completed.
In addition to Christian Hold, Markus Stoyer has also stayed in Vienna - unlike legend “Holdi”, however, involuntarily. The sports therapist broke his ankle a few days before leaving for Turkey and was operated on in Vienna on Tuesday by team doctor Dr. Marcus Hofbauer. Stoyer got in touch via WhatsApp last Wednesday and wished the team a good time: “Would really have liked to be there, but Marko (Gagić, ed.) will certainly stand in for me. Good work for our goals!” Today came the news from Dr. Hofbauer: “First operation done today, the second will follow on Saturday.” There was also a picture of the operated therapist including a smile and thumbs up. We wish him a speedy recovery!
After an intensive training session in the morning, where the team once again worked on tactical fine-tuning, among other things, the coaching team divided the Violets into three groups for the afternoon. Group 1 trained normally on the pitch again from 4:00 pm. “On the one hand, we go by the previous workload based on the data, but on the other hand we also speak directly to the players and get their feedback. That's how we've divided them up today,” says athletics coach Christian Balga.
Group 2 did a session with the physios and went swimming. This is not only possible indoors at the Titanic Mardan Palace in January, but also outdoors. Heated, of course, although the sea is always an alternative for the hardy. The duo Matteo Pérez Vinlöf and Abubakr Barry formed Group 3 and were busy with a light program in the gym.
After dinner, the legendary whizzing reporter set off again for this training camp. In his search for the stories that really interest all the fans, he not only barged into a hairdressing appointment right at the room, but also caught two violets in the games hall - challenge included. The next funny edition of the whizzing reporter will be available soon on Viola TV!
