The diary from Antalya provides daily insights into the training camp. What was said, how they trained, who excelled. You won't miss a thing here.
As on day 2 in Antalya, there was also a birthday to celebrate today, Wednesday. Physiotherapist Jonas Gary turned 29 and, like analyst Daniel Gasser, was also “allowed” to walk through the violet trellis. Of course, he also received a serenade and a small cake for dinner.
After it had already rained for a short while in the past few days, it really poured down today. However, the Violets were not distracted in the morning training session and once again worked intensively on their game plan. After a pressing exercise, another training match was on the agenda on a smaller pitch. There were no goals in the first half, but Dominik Fitz scored twice in the second - but the game still ended 1-1.
Why? Because the violet number 36 was allowed to attack as a neutral player for both teams. Fitzi gave Team Gray the lead with a powerful shot into the corner, and for the equalizer he pushed Nik Prelec's pass over the line after a perfectly played counterattack. In the penalty shoot-out, the gray team prevailed and the yellow team went into deep water for a few push-ups. Coach Stephan Helm kept giving commands, but above all words of praise were heard.
The coaching team gave the afternoon off, so some of the players set off after lunch to Antalya, around 30 kilometers away. Once there, the Violets were hit by the rain again, but the umbrellas they bought at short notice helped, although the sun came out again a little later anyway.
Some of the staff who wanted to let off steam playing paddle tennis in the afternoon were less fortunate. While it was only dripping at the start, the rain showers became heavier and heavier as the sets progressed, making the courts practically unplayable after a good hour. They returned to the Titanic Mardan Palace a little earlier than planned, completely soaked but still in a good mood.
In the evening, the entire group came together for a second team-building session. This time under the direction of co-trainer Christian Wegleitner, who had already held such a session during the summer training camp. In his presentation, Wegi looked back on the year 2024 with all its highs and lows. It quickly became clear: over the course of the past year, an increasingly well-functioning team was formed that always sticks together. Ubuntu!
