With the winning goal in the 52nd minute, Turgeman introduced himself to the fans in the Generali Arena during his first Bundesliga match. Twelve days before he already scored the important 2-0 in the first Cup lap against Austria XIII.
"I had a perfect start here. Not only after my two goals but on the first day I arrived at Austria Wien. I already feel at home, just like in Israel. I have met many good people here, in the team I have already won friends. Of course, it's nice to have scored already but it was important that we won the games," says Alon Turgeman, who is enthusiastic about the atmosphere in the Generali Arena:
"The atmosphere in the stadium was really great. I hope the fans continue to support us so much. This helps us players very much." It started to become particularly loud when it was clear that the Israeli was pulling towards the goal all alone (see in the video below at 0:38):
"At this particular moment, I was very focused on the situation that I didn't really notice," says Turgeman.
The fans of Austria Wien will also remember the 27-year-old's cheer after his first Bundesliga goal (see video below: 0:45). A 'Signature Move'? "Yes, last season in Israel, I celebrated every goal like this. The fans in Israel really liked it and joined in," says Turgeman and adds with a smile, "I have many more cheers."
Even after Wacker Innsbruck scored, the team remained calm and continued to play with confidence:
"After their goal we pushed each other on the pitch. I told the guys: come on, come on. I always believe that we can still win the game - otherwise I would not have to play anymore," says Turgeman, who received big applause when he left the game in the 70th minute. "The perfect way to start into the season. I dreamed about it the night before."
The preparation for the upcoming away game against WAC (Sunday, 05.08., 5 PM) is already fully underway. Tuesday morning, the 'Violets' trained in the new weight room in the corner of the south/east stand, afterwards they went outside to the training ground behind the north stand were the focus was game forms: one on one. Two on two. The team and the coaching team are extremely focused on the upcoming tasks.
"Every game is difficult. I prepare for each opponent with the same intensity, whether we play against Red Bull Salzburg or WAC. We really want to win," emphasizes the Israeli team player.
Last season,Turgeman played with Hapoel Haifa, a top team in the Israeli league, which usually claimed to dominate the game. The striker is therefore quite used to going into a game as the favourite. "You might go into a game as the favourite, but both in Israel and in Austria, no game is already decided. You have to be ready for any situation, believe in yourself and keep working hard."
