Violets aim for the cup final

Austria Vienna will face SPG Altach/Vorderland in the semi-finals of the Sportland Niederösterreich Women's Cup on Saturday (1:00 pm). The anticipation for the match is great, as is the will to reach the final, even though the hurdle is a big one. ORF Sport+ will broadcast live.

16-0 against SU Schönbrunn in the first round, 6-0 against Carinthians Spittal/Drau in the second round, 3-0 against Sturm Graz in the quarter-finals. The Violet women have remained flawless in the Cup season to date, celebrating three clear victories with a goal difference of 25-0 and remaining the only team to have not conceded a goal.

With euphoria against a top team

SPG Altach/Vorderland now await in the semi-finals as a tough opponent. "The atmosphere is great, the anticipation for this game is huge. It's been building up over the last few weeks, which we've been able to manage very successfully," explained captain Verena Volkmer before the team set off on Friday morning.

Coach Stefan Kenesei is also aware of this mood of anticipation and knows the strengths of his team, but also those of the Vorarlberg side: "We've put in a very impeccable performance in all of our cup games this season. The start to the spring was good, now we want to take the euphoria into this clash and I'm confident in my team. But it's clear that we need a super day where everything goes right, because Altach are a top team."

Goal: the final!

The last meeting between the two teams ended 1-1, with Verena Volkmer equalising in the second half of the rainy battle in Altach in November. A result that would lead to extra time this time.

"The goal is clearly to win and get to the final. We said right from the start that we wanted to go as far as possible in the cup and win this title. Once you're so close to the final, you really want to get there," says Volkmer, who is highly motivated.
