Violets challenged in derby against Vienna

Derby time! The 15th round of the ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga sees the Veilchen play host to city rivals First Vienna. The game will be played on Sunday (May 5) at 12:45 pm in the Naturarena Hohe Warte, ORF Sport+ will broadcast live.

The Violet women will face the current second-placed team after Vienna beat Altach/Vorderland 2-0 in Vorarlberg last week. Although they suffered a surprising 2-0 defeat at home to Lustenau/Dornbirn the week before, the blue and yellows are still having a strong season.

The Violets were beaten 3-1 by Vienna in the fall - it was also the last defeat to date for Stefan Kenesei's team, which has now been unbeaten in eight league games and eleven games in all competitions. Austria (22 points) are battling it out with Sturm Graz (22) and Neulengbach (19) for fourth place, while Vienna (31) are probably in a duel with Altach/Vorderland (31) for second place.

"Want to get points in the derby"

Kenesei knows how to assess the situation: "We can expect a very difficult game on the Hohe Warte on Sunday, Vienna are on a roll and are currently doing very well!" However, it is clear that the Violets also want to continue their sensational run: "We will prepare the right match plan, because our clear goal is to win points at Hohe Warte. That will require a top performance from us."

The derby takes place directly after the Vienna men's 2nd division game. An additional incentive: "We're hoping for a cool atmosphere thanks to the double-header with the Vienna men. It's also a good yardstick for us before the Cup final against St. Pölten", says Kenesei confidently.

The game kicks off at 12:45 on Sunday, tickets are available on site. ORF Sport+ will also be broadcasting live.
