Preview of the Q2 second leg in Iceland

For Austria Wien, it's all about advancing to the next round of the European Cup on Thursday. At 19:30 Austrian time, the Violets will face Breidablik in Iceland as part of Q2 of the UEFA Europa Conference League. Puls 24 & the Viola Sportsbar will broadcast live. Coach Manfred Schmid talks about the starting situation after the 1:1 in the first leg.

The away goals rule no longer applies. The 1-1 draw in the first leg therefore means that any draw would lead to extra time: "The starting situation is similar to that in Vienna. We need at least one goal to advance," says Manfred Schmid.

Three days after the draw in the Q2 first leg, Austria was defeated in the Bundesliga opener at Ried on Sunday. On Monday morning, the coaching team analyzed the 1-2 defeat together with the team:

"We have worked through the Ried game in the video analysis and are now fully focused on the game on Thursday. We want to go all out in this second leg and definitely advance," the Austria coach emphasized.

Team news & schedule in Iceland

Patrick Wimmer is still missing due to injury. Offensive newcomer Noah Ohio, whose signing Austria announced on Tuesday, is ineligible to play in Iceland because he was not registered for the first leg. Filip Antovski has not yet been cleared to play. Instead, another young player from the Young Violets, Leonardo Ivkic (18), center back and wing back, will travel to Iceland.

Austria will take off for Iceland on Wednesday at 10:00 and will hold the final training there in the evening. On Thursday, at 17:30 local time and 19:30 Austrian time the match will start at the Kópavogsvöllur stadium in Kopavogur, not far from the Icelandic capital Reykjavík.

Where can the match be seen on TV & online?

Austria's return match in Iceland is live on PULS 24 HD as well as in the PULS 24 Livestream, in the ZAPPN App and on puls24.at.

If Austria manages to advance, the Scottish club Aberdeen, who won the first leg against Häcken with 5:1, will probably be waiting in Q3. The home game would be already next Thursday, August 5.
