Goal: Continue home series against Salzburg

Sporting director Manuel Ortlechner and coach Manfred Schmid are looking forward to the top match against FC Red Bull Salzburg (Saturday, 5:00 pm) with anticipation. Austria Wien is unbeaten at the Generali Arena since March and has a plan to surprise the champions and league leaders.

"I'm hoping for a top game from my team." - Manfred Schmid

"I think it's a wonderful task for every player to play against a Champions League team. Everyone can present themselves against the best in the league. I'm hoping for a top game from my team. We want to remain unbeaten," emphasizes coach Manfred Schmid.

"The goal is for us to remain undefeated at home." - Manuel Ortlechner

In the first duel of the season with Salzburg, Austria held the zero until the 72nd minute and offered an appealing performance in the 0:1 until the end: "If the team implements the plan so well again, we can be really annoying against Salzburg. The goal is for us to remain unbeaten at home. That's not presumptuous. If many components fit together, we can also walk off the pitch as winners," says sports director Manuel Ortlechner.

The development of the team since the 0:1 in Salzburg is positive, since then Austria has lost only one game (0:1 in Wolfsberg) and scored 15 points in ten rounds. Ortlechner is particularly pleased with the successful integration of the young players from the Austria Academy:

"Our path proves us right." - Manuel Ortlechner

"I'm delighted how quickly the young players from our academy have learned to swim. Our path is proving us right. The young ones are being guided very well by the established players. The mixture between young and old works very well. The team is fired up for Saturday and wants to remain unbeaten at home against this top European team," said Manuel Ortlechner.

Coach Manfred Schmid does not think that the first defeat of the season in the UEFA Champions League against the German top club Wolfsburg will change anything in Salzburg's self-image: "I expect Salzburg to perform as they have done all season. They have a very good and broad squad and can replace any player. We can hardly allow ourselves any mistakes and have to be efficient. I don't think we are without a chance."

Personnel news

Lukas Mühl is fit again. Fellow center back Johannes Handl is a bit sick at the moment and therefore questionable for Saturday. Otherwise, all players are fit except for Marvin Martins (adductor problems).
