Austria fell behind shortly before the half-time

Tai Baribo put the ball next to the goal after an assist from Eliel Peretz (6th). A well-taken free kick by Matthias Braunöder and a shot by Markus Suttner were cleared with difficulty by the Carinthian rearguard (8th).

After that it became quieter, neither goalkeeper had to intervene in the first half hour. After a short interruption due to a broken corner flag, Peretz took a volley in the penalty area, Patrick Pentz turned the ball skillfully over the crossbar (36th). A header by Muharem Husković after a Markus Suttner cross went wide of the goal (37th). Marco Djuričin aimed better, but the ball also missed (42nd). Almost in return, the hosts took the lead, Tai Baribo tucking the ball into the far corner after a cross from Adis Jasic (43rd). WAC had more chances through shots from Michael Liendl and Amar Dedić in stoppage time, 1-0 at the break.

Violets dominant, but too harmless

Can Keles replaced Aleksandar Jukić after the break. The 20-year-old quickly came to an opportunity, could just be stopped in the penalty area by a tackle of Dedić (48th). A finish from Muharem Husković was blocked for a corner kick, and a header from Marco Djuričin after a cross from Matthias Braunöder went over the goal (50th, 51st). Manfred Fischer had a long shot - unfortunately also over (57th). Twice Markus Suttner created danger from corner kicks, but the ball would not enter the goal (66th, 69th).

Austria had 75% possession in the second half, Manfred Schmid brought on Alexander Grünwald and Noah Ohio for Braunöder and Husković 20 minutes before the end. After a cross from Keles, Djuričin did not hit the ball properly, Austria still did not manage to score on the Carinthian goal (86th). The last assault on the Carinthian goal was also unsuccessful, Austria suffered a defeat in Carinthia.
