In the 13th round of the ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga, the away game in Linz was on the programme. Antea Batarilo and Alexandra Wölkart were allowed to start from the beginning compared to the 0-0 draw at home against Sturm the previous week, Florentina Satra and Jacqueline Hajek took a place on the bench for the time being.

Dominant, but no goals

Austria began the match in control and quickly gained more possession. After 15 minutes, it was Lea Mauly who made her first dangerous run at the Linz goal, but her shot was too central. The Violets pressed for the opening goal, this time it was top scorer Verena Volkmer with a finish (22'). Dominique Bruinenberg also tried her luck with a shot from the edge of the penalty area, but her shot just missed the far corner (31').

Lena Triendl & Co established a foothold in the home side's half, but no goal was forthcoming in the first half - the teams went into the break with a goalless 0-0 draw.

Both teams came out of the half without any changes to their personnel. Austria continued to dominate the second half - shortly after the restart, it was Bruinenberg who had another chance to take the lead, but the Linz goalkeeper was able to make a save (50'). Larissa Haidner between the Violet women's posts rarely had to intervene.

Volkmer with the winning goal

At the other end, one goal followed another. Katharina Schiechtl was free in the penalty area after a pass from Triendl, but her finish was too harmless (61'). After 62 minutes, Stefanie Schneeberger's game was over and Alisa Ziletkina came on for the six-man - a clear sign that the team were on the offensive.

And then the time had finally come: After a corner kick from Triendl, captain Volkmer was in the right place and headed in for a deserved lead (71'). The Violet women continued to press and wanted to make everything clear with the second goal. Once again it was Schiechtl with a header chance (85'). A heated final phase developed in which the Violets ultimately emerged victorious. The Violet women thus remain unbeaten in the spring of 2024!
