The game got off to a fast-paced start and after just a few minutes, the Violets had their first shot on goal, but it was saved by the visitors' goalkeeper (3'). On the counter-attack, Blau-Weiß Linz also tried to score with a dangerous shot, but it flew just over the goal (4').
Five minutes later, Lena Triendl was presented with an excellent opportunity: she stormed towards goal alone. While the Linz goalkeeper came too far out of goal in her attempt to defend, Triendl had a clear way at the empty goal and converted the first violet goal - 1-0! In the 12th minute, Triendl tried again, but this time her shot went over the goal.
After the first few intense minutes, the two teams increasingly neutralised each other and there were only a few dangerous scenes in the next 20 minutes. Two corner kicks from the Violets were unsuccessful and another corner kick from Dominique Bruinenberg only just grazed the net (39').
Shortly before half-time, Verena Volkmer failed to hit the target (41'). In the 45th minute, Volkmer and Stefanie Schneeberger tried again with shots on goal, but the Linz goalkeeper was on the ball and was able to keep both attempts out.
Austria increased their lead after the break: Schneeberger scored to make it 2-0 and put the Violets further in front (50'). In the 60th minute, Louise Schöffel combined skilfully with Bruinenberg, but her cross was safely intercepted by the opposing goalkeeper. A short time later, Carina Wenninger had a good opportunity when she finished from a corner - but the ball only hit the crossbar (64').
In the 86th minute, Triendl laid the ball off for substitute Emily Schäfer, but she was unable to capitalise on this opportunity either. The last exciting scene of the match took place in the 90th minute when Alisa Ziletkina put the ball in the net, but was clearly offside. The goal was therefore not recognised.
In the end, it was a commanding 2-0 victory for the Violets, who deserved to leave the pitch as winners thanks to their strong performance in the second half and took over the lead of the ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga table at least until Sunday.
