2-1 in Altach secures the victory in the group

Johannes Tartarotti scored the lead for the hosts, but Maximilian Sax and Bright Edomwonyi turned the game after the break. Therefore, Austria Wien secured the first place in the qualification group of the tipico Bundesliga.

Three changes after the defeat against St. Pölten. Michael Madl started in central defence instead of Alexandar Borković. Thomas Ebner and Vesel Demaku replaced James Jeggo and Dominik Prokop.

Alexander Pastoor changed his starting eleven in four positions, last week Altach won 1-0 against Wattens. Emir Karic, Jan Zwischenbrugger, Johannes Tartarotti and Frantz Pangop were new to the team.

One goal down before the break

Austria Wien started ambitiously, Christoph Monschein finished twice in the first minutes, unfortunately Altach could save both attempts (4’, 8’). In between, Thomas Ebner came to an opportunity after a nice combination - also blocked. Manprit Sarkaria prevailed on the right, passed to Vesel Demaku, whose shot went past the goal (23’).

Altach became dangerous for the first time in the 25th minute, Patrick Pentz parried a shot from Sidney Sam, Daniel Nussbaumer's shot was fended off by Austria Wien’s goalkeeper as well. Although, the goal would not have counted, Altach’s most dangerous striker in recent weeks was standing offside. Shortly after, the ball was in goal, Johannes Tartarotti scored the 1-0 lead (27’).

Benedikt Pichler put a header over the crossbar after a cross from Florian Klein (33’), until the break the score didn’t change anymore.

Sax and “Edi” turned the game

Maximilian Sax came at half-time for Vesel Demaku, the midfielder also initiated the first chance: his pass came to Monschein, who passed on to Alexander Grünwald. The captain shot from greater distance but missed the goal (46’). Oum Gouet almost scored an own goal after a free kick from Manprit Sarkaria (53’). The “Violets” equalized in the 57th minute. Sarkaria brought the ball to the centre, Thomas Ebner lifted the ball to Max Sax, who scored volley from a turn – 1-1, his first goal of the season.

Substitute Marco Meilinger passed to Pangop in the penalty area, Patrick Pentz saved the great chance for Vorarlberg (62’). Patrick Wimmer came into the game for Benedikt Pichler, a shot from Sarkaria went over the goal (68’). A quarter of an hour before the end Thomas Ebner and Christoph Monschein left the game and James Jeggo and Bright Edomwonyi entered the field. A sensational solo by Patrick Wimmer initiated the violet lead goal. Bright Edomwonyi pushed the ball over the line after a cross by the young Lower Austrian (78’).

Patrick Pentz defused a long-range shot from Tartarotti (85’). Alexandar Borković, substitute for Grünwald almost scored the 3-1 (90’+1’) after assist by Sarkaria. Christian Gebauer had the last chance of the game, his finish narrowly missed the second bar (90’+3’).

Austria prevailed due to a strong second half, celebrated their fourth consecutive away win and secured the home field advantage for the play-off game - again against Altach.
