The game got off to a promising start for the Viennese side: Shortly after kick-off, Louise Schöffel put the first dangerous cross towards goal, but the home side's goalkeeper was able to keep it out (1st). The next chance came a short time later: Maria Olsen stormed towards goal and shot low at Volkmer, who tried to extend the ball. However, this finish failed to create the hoped-for danger (3'). Just a minute later, Weilharter tried her luck with another shot on goal, but this one was also blocked by the goalkeeper (4').
Although the Violets kept coming forward well, the hosts' defence was always on the ball and was able to stop many attacks. Volkmer was also unable to convert a free-kick as the ball did not make it past the wall (16'). Although the Viennese dominated the game, they were initially unable to get a real shot on target - until the 23rd minute. Sophie Rapf was able to put a precise long-range shot straight into the net and score the first goal of the game. It was the 18-year-old's first Bundesliga goal.
Shortly afterwards, the Violets had another opportunity: Schiechtl's header from an Olsen corner just missed the crossbar (30'). However, it did not take long for the Viennese side to extend their lead: In the 42nd minute of the match, Volkmer scored her tenth championship goal of the current season to make it 0:2. Weilharter then scored another goal shortly before half-time, which was almost prevented by the finger defence of the hosts‘ goalkeeper, but was ultimately unstoppable (45’) - the half-time score was 0-3.
The second half began rather sluggishly for the Violets, who initially struggled to find their rhythm again. Vorarlberg took advantage of this to sprint towards the violet goal a few times. However, the Viennese side soon regained their composure and were able to assert their dominance. In the 72nd minute, it was Olsen who scored to make it 0-4 and thus put the game beyond doubt.
Almost ten minutes later, in the 82nd minute, freshly substituted Emily Schäfer put the finishing touches to a very convincing performance by the Violets with her goal to make it 5-0. Like Sophie Rapf, it was the 16-year-old Schäfer's first championship goal.
With this clear away win, the Austria women cemented their ambitions in the Bundesliga and can keep pace with the league leaders from St. Pölten.
