2:1 in Südstadt - Austria in the championship group!

Austria fell behind early through a goal from Wilhelm Vorsager, but goals from Alexander Grünwald and Romeo Vucic turned the game in favor of the Veilchen. Austria finishes the basic round in 4th place and is thus in the champions' group.

Manfred Schmid was suspended for the match against Admira due to his red card the previous week, with co-coaches Cem Sekerlioglu and Mark McCormick deputizing for the head coach. Eric Martel was absent due to his 5th yellow card, Aleksandar Jukić had a heel injury. Vesel Demaku started in the defensive midfield, in front of him Can Keles got a place in the starting eleven.

Admira coach Andreas Herzog made only one change after the win in Altach, with ex-Veilchen Thomas Ebner replacing Roman Kerschbaum in midfield.

Austria behind at half-time

The game did not start well for Austria, Admira got off to a strong start and took the lead after just a few minutes. After a free kick by Jan Vodháněl, Wilhelm Vorsager scored with his head to make it 1:0, Patrick Pentz was without a chance to defend (7th).

After that, the Violets became more active, after a corner by Markus Suttner Manfred Fischer got a finish, but missed the goal just (12.). A shot by Alexander Grünwald was deflected over the crossbar by Sebastian Bauer (31st). Two good free-kick opportunities by Grünwald and Suttner went unused (37th, 39th). After an assist from Matthias Braunöder, Noah Ohio hit the bar (43rd). Austria went into the half-time break with a deficit for the first time this year.

Violets turned the game after the break!

Austria looked slightly nervous even after the change of ends, Ried and the competition from Hütteldorf were in the lead, Austria out of the championship group. After an hour, the coaching team brought two new offensive forces. Marco Djuričin came in for Noah Ohio, Muharem Husković replaced Vesel Demaku, the double six was thus broken up. In the 64th minute, it was again the number ten who made the Austria fans cheer: Marvin Martins brought a cross to the middle, Alexander Grünwald scored for the all-important 1:1 - the Veilchen were above the line again!

The scorer was replaced in the 74th minute by Romeo Vucic, who put Austria ahead shortly after with his debut goal. Husković broke through on the right side and Vucic finished with his right foot to make it 1:2 (83rd). Admira had one last chance through Jan Vodháněl, but the ball went past the goal (90.+3).

Austria prevailed 2-1 in a challenging match and continues the ADMIRAL Bundesliga in the champions group.
