Austria Wien signs Abubakr Barry

Abubakr Barry joins Austria Wien. The 23-year-old central midfielder from Gambia passed the medical check on Thursday and arrives at the Verteilerkreis from Israeli second division club Bnei Yehuda. Welcome to Vienna, Abubakr!

Barry joined Maccabi Haifa's youth team as a 17-year-old and has played for various clubs in the Liga Leumit (Israel's second-highest division) since 2019. His last season at Bnei Yehuda was a strong one: in 32 games, the tall midfielder scored nine goals and provided four assists.

Abubakr Barry: "I'm really very happy to be here. Austria Wien is a perfect club for young players like me. I will give my best and hope to be able to develop in the best possible way here. I think my strengths are passing and dribbling, and I scored 9 times last season, so I'm also good at scoring goals. But there is still room for improvement. I want to prove myself here and can't wait to get to know my team-mates and play in front of our fans."
