Austria Wien won their first friendly match of the winter training camp by a clear 5-0 margin. Manfred Fischer and Aleksandar Dragović scored in the first half against KF Dukagjini from Kosovo, while Marko Raguž, Kelvin Boateng and Romeo Mörth were on target in the second half.
After Friday's friendly against FK Teplice was cancelled, KF Dukagjini stepped in at short notice to provide a new opponent. The match against the current third-placed team in the Kosovan Superliga was played on the pitch where the Violets have set up camp for their training camp. The two main pitches at the Emirhan Sports Centre were still unplayable due to heavy rainfall in recent days.
Austria started with Samuel Şahin-Radlinger in goal, with Philipp Wiesinger, Aleksandar Dragović and Kang Hee Lee forming the back three. Birthday boy Reinhold Ranftl, Philipp Maybach, Abubakr Barry and Matteo Schablas played in midfield, while captain Manfred Fischer, Johannes Eggestein and Konstantin Aleksa started in attack.
Despite heavy rain, the pitch remained in good condition and the Violets dominated the game from the start, although the Kosovans did not allow them any chances in the opening minutes. Ranftl had the first good opportunity (18'), but his shot was deflected wide. Shortly afterwards, the first goal was scored: Eggestein crossed, Schablas laid the ball off for Fischer and the captain struck powerfully to make it 1-0 (21').
Shots from Barry (22') and Maybach (25') failed to find the net, but Dragović was on hand shortly afterwards. After a long free kick cross, Lee brought the ball back to the centre, where the Violets' number 15 had no trouble scoring the 2-0 (26'). Eggestein had a chance to score the third goal with his head, but the Dukagjini keeper made a strong save (37'). Shortly before half-time, Wiesinger had a shot on goal (43') and Aleksa had a great chance after a cross from Eggestein, but his header was cleared off the line (45').
The violet coaching team made a complete change for the second half: Mirko Kos was now in goal, with Dejan Radonjić, Ifeanyi Ndukwe and Tin Plavotić positioned in front of him. Daniel Nnodim played on the right wing, Hakim Guenouche on the left, while Vasilije Marković and Dominik Nišandžić closed down the centre. Kelvin Boateng, Marko Raguž and Sanel Šaljić led the attack.
Just a few minutes after the restart, Marković won the ball in the opposition's penalty area, played a measured pass to Raguž, who made it 3-0 (51'). Boateng added the fourth goal when he found himself alone in front of the opposition goalkeeper (54'), and ten minutes later Nnodim sent Šaljić deep, who made a fine cut inside and then curled the ball towards the far corner, but unfortunately only hit the woodwork (64').
Boateng appeared alone in front of goal again via Ndukwe and Raguž, but this time lifted the ball over the keeper and the goal, leaving the score at 4-0 for the time being. Then Florian Wustinger, Romeo Vučić and Romeo Mörth came into the game (71') – and one of the substitutes made an immediate impact. After an assist from Nnodim, Mörth was on hand to make it 5-0.
Dukagjini had two notable chances, with Plavotić throwing himself in front of a shot at the last moment and another effort ending up in the side netting. With heavy rain falling, not much else happened in the closing stages as the Violets cruised to a comfortable victory.
