Austria Wien signs goalkeeper Lukas Wedl

The 25-year-old goalkeeper Lukas Wedl moves from Wacker Innsbruck to Austria Wien.

Sporting Director Manuel Ortlechner: "We are delighted that we have been able to attract Lukas Wedl, a promising goalkeeper, to our idea. He has already delivered very good performances in the second division at Wacker Innsbruck - that's why we had him on our radar for some time."

"The atmosphere at the derby was extraordinary - I had goose bumps." - Lukas Wedl

Lukas Wedl: "This is a really great opportunity and the next step in my career. Austria is a traditional club and I think that I fit in very well with Austria with my style of play and personality. I want to contribute and help shape this upheaval the club is going through right now."

Wedl was a spectator in the stadium for the Vienna derby. Shortly before kickoff, he learned that things could look good with a transfer to Austria: "That was an awesome moment. The atmosphere at the derby was extraordinary - I had goosebumps and clearly felt which side of Vienna I was on."

Lukas Wedl played a total of 45 competitive games for Wacker Innsbruck, 40 in the 2nd division, five in the ÖFB Cup. In his youth he played for Waidhofen and Gaflenz.
